In my studio this week

Just a quick post and dash this week, the kids are starving and I’m going to get into trouble if I don’t feed them…

This week, this happened:

red-yellow wip1

red-yellow wip2

red-yellow wip3

Still a work in progress and not great photos as my camera is in camera hospital and being held ransom for $190 to repair it. Hopefully it will be home this week.

This also happened:

green mosaic

Yes, I’m still making mosaics and have many evil plans 😀

And now I will dash to feed children. Don’t forget to dash over to Paint Party Friday and check out all the wonderful art over there.

Best wishes,
Liz

these projects are both so vibrant and so pleasing to the eye! Hope the kiddies have their bellies full by now:) Happy PPF!

    1. Yes, the kids ended up with take-away last night. I’m a bad mother 😀

Happy PPF! And thanks for your kind comments.

  2. Very bold and vibrant pieces. So great you managed to fit in some painting with all the demands on your time. 🙂

    1. LOL, only way to get any art done here is to jam it in between everything else.

I’m enjoying playing with colour theory at the moment, so I’m having fun 😀

      Thanks for your kind comments.

  3. Been seeing your mosaics Liz and love them but I love the red & yellow painting. It looks like so much fun, I’d like to try it. What did you use to merge the paints?

    1. Hi, Freya.

First I painted the background with normal acrylic paint (in this case Matisse Structure, but any good artist acrylic will do). The drizzled paint is a mixture of Golden Fluid Acrylics and Golden Tar Gel. Normally I would have used Golden self levelling gel, but I had the tar gel which is supposed to be exactly for this kind of project. The result is different from the self leveling gel, and I’m not sure it is going to give me the effect I’m looking for (if it doesn’t, then I’ll just do another one, though these paintings are a little hard on the painting supplies budget).

I used little tubs to mix the paints – you can see them in the photos. and then my palette knife to dribble it all over the canvas. There is a little colour theory behind the design as well. Also the painting is not yet finished – I have some more layers to do yet.

Thank you for your kind comments.

      Best wishes,
      Liz

  4. Ohhh I really like your abstract. You can do so much with just two colors. Sorry about the camera. Have a great Sunday

    1. Thankyou, Nicole! I am having fun with the abstract, though it has been frustrating me a little this week and not behaving, but I will conquer it 😀

Still don’t have my camera back ::insert pout here:: But I guess they will get back to me sooner or later.

      Happy PPF!

      Best wishes,
      Liz

    1. Thanks, Fran! I wish it was quick 😀 It hasn’t been behaving and has taken me longer than expected…but I will get there…eventually.
